The apparent lack of serious action towards mitigating climate change is something I wrack my head over everyday, Why aren't we doing everything in our power to prevent the extinction of our species?

People want to say it's because of greed, ignorance or malice. I disagree. It's because it's not practical or realistic.

Allies or enemies, every country is constantly competing. If we fall behind, in any way, you sure as shit know Russia or China is going to be there to take advantage, no matter the cost. If any Western country stops producing meat/oil/products, other countries will. Because that's the nature of the game.

And the truth is, renewable's aren't the saviours of the planet that people think they are. They require energy and resources to produce and maintain, to the point where the environmental cost of implementing them on a global scale would sky rocket us straight in to an early extinction.

It's impractical, unrealistic and honestly it's just too late now. And I'm willing to bet a lot of people on the top already know this, it would explain their almost gleeful desire to strip this planet bare as fast as possible.
