Are people worried about microplastics? If so, what should we do?

I’m worried too (currently listening to today’s Vox podcast on the subject). It’s overwhelming how PFAS has saturated our environment and bodies seemingly under the radar for so long. They can be filtered out of drinking water which is being addressed by the EPA now and that’s a good first step since that’s how most people ingest PFAS.

The health effects are still being studied, but it doesn’t seem great. I generally keep my health in check by getting checkups/physicals, screenings for anything abnormal, and exercise regularly. My diet isn’t great, but not bad by most standards. I don’t smoke and I’m cutting back on drinking. That should be enough to ensure a mostly healthy life. I’m terrified of finding some rare cancer or organ failure that could be attributed to PFAS pollution and having no choice but to suffer. This and the companies responsible never having to face repercussions.

It’s an alarming situation, but as with all the calamities we hear about everyday, I’ll try to keep my response to it proportional to the amount of published hard data/studies on the subject.
