Are some people just destined for mediocrity?

30 years ago for me; never did the college or uni thing; worked in grocery stores from age 14 to 20. A 3 month temp job with the regions transit system became available and I GRABBED it! Steered that opportunity into a life long career; union ages and benefits; great retirement plan.

If I was you: I'd be scanning local government and government agency websites for jobs. I'd be asking what decent paying jobs are in demand in your region. I'd be considering night school courses or weekend courses to advance any career ambitions.

City bus drivers in Vancouver (Canada) start at double the regions minimum wage, and climb to 3 X's the minimum wage over 2 years. Paid benefits and pension plan.

Some get into law enforcement.

Some travel the world working on cruise ships or airlines.

Some become log haul truck drivers or bus drivers.

My advice: Work hard; have some realistic goals and ambitions in life; travel whenever possible; enter contests; socialize; have side hobbies or interests.
