Atheists who were never raised religiously: What were some of your encounters with certain religious groups as a child that made you dislike them even more?

As a Brit, it wasn't really a problem. We actually had daily prayer in schools and sang Christian hyms every week, but it was more cultural than religious. In highschool we even had a mandatory religious studies course that everybody had to take, and the teacher was some crazy fundamentalist they found under a rock in Australia. She gave some of the most hilarious lessons ever:

"He was sucked into a jet engine and he survived. PRAISE THE LORD! It can't be explained any other way. It is a miracle!"

"You don't believe in Jesus? Are you stupid? Do you want to burn in hell?!"

"Some people believe you should use a condom. I never believed any of that. Don't want AIDS? Then don't have sex!"

This teacher was the earliest version of a meme before we even knew what a meme was. We are busting our guts laughing everytime someone quotes one of her famous lines.

"Wait, don't eat that sausage."

"what?"

"You don't want AIDS, do you?"

Christianity is just a social club without beer. Now, if you want to see a religion. Liverpool FC is a religion.
