Beware of tV marketing scams (240hz native refresh rate)

Maybe it actually refreshes at 240hz?

I mean there are tv's that advertise 960hz for example. And I'm pretty sure they are actually refreshing at 120hz or maybe 240hz.

And what they advertise is what refresh rate on a sample and hold display would be needed to achieve the amount of image persistence they get through backlight strobbing.

So I mean, yes the input is 60hz (or 120hz on the Vizio P Series 2016 from the list above)

But the refresh might actually be 240hz. And they can make good use of that by interpolating the 60fps source to 240fps.

And maybe that where the term native comes from? As in a way to say the panel is actually refreshing at 240hz? In contrast to the 960hz tv that is not actually refreshing at 960hz?

Just a theory. If anyone follows TV technology and can infirm or confirm. Would be sweet.

I'm also curious if 240hz refresh TV are already a thing at all? Or if they are still stuck to 120hz.

A 240hz PC monitor was finally announced by asus this year. http://www.overclock3d.net/articles/gpu_displays/asus_reveal_their_rog_swift_pg258q_240hz_gaming_monitor/1

I wonder where the TV market is right now regarding refresh rates.
