Bulletproof Coffee

I would give a strong recommendation against buying any of your ingredients from Bulletproof/Upgraded Self. Nothing against them or Dave Asprey, but they are unnecessarily expensive and you do not need to buy the branded products to get the benefits of BPC, whatever they are.

Find a local coffee shop that sells beans from a roaster in the area. The fresher the better. Find a bean that you like the flavor of. The likelihood that specialty coffee from a local roaster has appreciable levels of mycotoxins is pretty low.

Find grassfed butter at a grocery store. Where I am, Harris Teeter, Wegman's, and Martins/Giant all have unsalted (silver wrapper) Kerrygold. It may vary widely in price from store to store, so you may want to check around.

Buy MCT oil at just about any health food store or supplement store (GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, etc). Or buy it on Amazon. NOW Foods brand is the most common, and plenty good.

You'll have to play with the ratios to see what you like, and what yields an appropriate number of calories to fit in with the rest of your diet. Start slow (try 1 tsp at first) with the MCT or you may have some stomach cramps and blow up a bathroom. That with 1/2 inch of the double-width Kerrygold stick might be a good place to start.

And of course, be sure to blend it, or it won't be very pleasant.

I drank it every morning for a while, but kind of got tired of it (the taste). I did find it gave me some pretty great energy and mental focus. I don't suspect it has weight loss benefits beyond adding fat to a ketogenic diet, and whatever keto-inducing effects MCT may have.

Best of luck. And please don't spend $40 on this.
