Canada set to ban assault-style weapons, including AR-15 and the gun used in Polytechnique massacre

This is such a fundamentally broken train of thought I was going to simply ignore it, but fuck it I’ll that a shot.

Your first statement is absolute horseshit. The AR-15 is a fantastic weapon platform for a number of things like target and competition shooting or hunting.

This isn’t about preventing deaths. The Nova Scotia shooter obtained his guns illegally from the US. All the laws in the world would not have stopped what he did, do you understand that?

The “doesn’t actually get in the way of people’s rights” comment is a sticky one too. Do legal gun owners in this country not have rights? Is the government allowed to make us criminals and physically steal our possessions just because they’ve decided that only they should be allowed to have certain guns?

Do you think that only military and law enforcement should carry weapons? If so, what do you think about the fact that the RCMP and local police departments have reported over 800 guns lost or stolen since 2005?

What are you going to say when Canada bans every single gun in existence and yet we still have gang shootings on a daily basis with illegal US pistols or someone steals a gun from a incompetent cop and shoots up a public venue? Maybe we should ban murder, in that case?

People like you are the reason stupid, bullshit laws like the one the government is pushing get passed. I guarantee you don’t know the first thing about firearm ownership in this country and the incredibly strong laws that surround that process.
