Charlottesville city council votes unanimously to remove another Confederate statue

Estimated cost a year ago for removing the statues was around $700,000.

That's nothing. Some idiot on Twitter was trying to argue a while back that the cost of removing the statue in New Orleans was prohibitive because it cost 2 MILLION DOLLARS! He was all up in arms saying crime is rampant in N.O. and shouldn't the mayor be more focused on safety and funding the police department.

So, I asked him how much of the city's budget was being used to remove the statue. He had no idea even though he lives in New Orleans. I looked it up for him.

Turns out the city's budget is 1 Billion dollars, of which, the Police Dept gets the lions share. Fire Dept and "Health and Public Safety" weren't far behind either. This dipshit still couldn't acknowledge that 2 Mil is quite reasonable to remove such a monument.

So, I tried to put it in terms he could understand. If you had $100,000 budget for the year, would you pay $2 to have an ugly wart removed from your face? Damn straight you would, my co-pay just visit the Dr is $35. He still didn't get it.

Most people have no idea how fast a municipality can spend $2 Mil, it's just not that much money.

Anyone trying to justify keeping these monuments to traitors due to the cost of removing them is either completely ignorant, racist, or both.
