Most people are unintelligent. They are followers who ride on the coat tails of others and hop onto bandwagons that are front page issues of the month.
That term is as poorly used as "fake news" is today in popular culture. Ever since the election, everyone is throwing around "fake news" this and "fake news" that because "fake news" was made populist by election rhetoric. Basically, "fake news" is now anything you disagree with and that you think must be fake (though you yourself made a statement without proof as well). Saying "fake news" without proof is "fake news", essentially. Even things that aren't news is being called fake news. Your friend says something anecdotal and possibly false or open to interpretation, and you'd say its "fake news".
It's like how "trolling" is being used in today's culture to describe anything you disagree with as well. Trolling used to be for describing intentional incitement of emotional anguish by someone for their own personal amusement. But now it's being used to describe people who genuinely believe what they say too. E.g. you hear "right wing trolls" a lot, but I bet a lot of these "trolls" actually believe the "right wing" things they say and are not saying it to incite an outsized emotional response for gags. Hence they arn't really trolls. Sasha Baron Cohen is a troll with his skits because he says things to piss you off and to expose your inner contradictions/hypocrisies. A right wing nut is not a "right wing troll" because that nutter probably actually believes the things he says.
Essentially all of these are a collection of terms people say to try to disparage people they disagree with or dislike. Why don't they keep it simple with a "fuck you" like they do in the old days? Because these morons want to sound intelligent and hip. When you think about it and how they use terminologies incorrectly, it shows how unintelligent they actually are. At least use the terms properly when it is appropriate. Most intelligent people today will just say "fuck you" instead of incorrectly calling you a "troll" or throw around any number of terms incorrectly.
The hapas subreddit I reckon is more about racial equality and gender equality. It is a community for people who through their own life experiences of being a hapa, become woke to the underlying conditions at play in society. Why are there more WMAF than AMWF? Why do hapas, who may be half white, get treated as "just another asian"? Is it because they "look asian enough" to western eyes and so they get profiled like full blooded asians? And this social construct is somehow not racist and insulting? But how does exposing this reality have anything to do with people being nerdy virgs who can't get tail? Oh right, they use that term because its supposedly offensive and signifies their enemies are e-rodger like. Simpletons. If they can't even handle proper usage of terminology, how do you expect these people to develop technologies and innovations that move mankind forward. Oh right, they don't. Because most of them are probably lower rung of society and not much of a think anyway lol. I love it when people use terms incorrectly. It actually exposes how dumb they are.
