Many parents are pressured or advised to disown their gay daughters. That is not accepting your daughter.

Disciplining someone for who there are is not accepting.

If you disciplined your child for having brown eyes, or disowned them for it, you would be abusive.

Denying yourself love is definitely not accepting of yourself.

Being gay does not harm yourself or others. There is no reason to punish it. Being litigious about the old testament is not what Jesus was about: he healed on the Sabbath, argued with scholars to favor the disadvantaged even when scripture would be unkind. If condemning gays causes mental sickness, suicides, fagdrags, and more: Jesus would be against it.
