The point that I was making wasn't that they were weak individuals, but that society created a situation where very few of us have literally any time at all to work on basic self improvement.

We have a massive population of very intelligent individuals who are so busy trying to fit in with their parents world that they don't even have time to learn the very basics.
What about all the time we spend in school as children? Surely that's the perfect time to be learning how to write nicely.
