CMV: Less people should vote

Ok, let's quit the bullshit. I'm not going to go dig around the internet to source everything.

What percentage of voters do you think understand the basics of US Foreign policy? What's going on in Syria? Russia? Iran? Iraq?

What percentage of voters understand the basic principles of economics?

What percentage of voters could actually name 5 of the top 10 policy positions of the 2 leading candidates?

What percentage of voters understand the ACA beyond how it personally effected them?

What percentage of voters understand the national debt?

I don't have the numbers, but my guess for any of those questions is less than 10%. If you're going to guess over 50% then we have nothing to talk about, because in my mind that's absurd. Very few people understand these issues, and the elections are not decided by issues.

If you agree that:

-Most people do not understand the issues

-It would be better if people who understood the issues made the important decisions in our society

Then we really don't have anything to argue about. If you think people are very well informed then we can agree to disagree. And if you disagree with the second premise, then I don't see why you're in favor of representative democracy in the first place.
