Taxes already are much higher on the rich.

The government is already taking as much as they think they can, and they're already making a lot of incentive for the rich to hide their assets. The harsher the taxes the more people leave the country/ hide their money in the Virgin Islands.

Part of it is the structure of the taxes and the feeling of entitlement from those paying proportionally less. My grandfather did well in his career and could be considered 1% when he died. After he died the government hit the family with a huge "death tax" forcing my grandmother to give up the house and move to a smaller house. (Let me remind you, a house that they had paid property taxes, mortgage, and paid it all with the 60% of their income they were able to take back. Now granted it was a nice house and they were by no means living on the street. But he worked 70 hours a week to get where he was and he was very good at what he did and once he died all of that was taken and the left keeps saying "the rich don't pay their fair share"
