CMV: It is perfectly ethical to pay disabled people below minimum wage and sheltered workshop programs should be reformed and expanded rather than destroyed in the interest of "civil rights" for disabled people.

It should be disregarded for people with disabilities because they need specialized work environments with supportive services and circumstances in place. So theres a greater cost to employ those with severe disabilities. It should also be disregarded because it would allow the program and benefits of the program to be extended to more people. Another good arguement for disregarding it is because ultimately it's fair, why should someone with a disability get paid twice as much as their able bodied counterparts? They shouldnt. Allowing disabled people to work productivity based jobs without the pressure of productivity goals will create job opportunities that would otherwise not be there in jobs that are well aligned with common disability needs.
