It's cold in Texas. Texans aren't used to it.

My workplace has this thing where we have workshops based on the 7 Habits of Effective People. Not that it's a bad book, one of the early chapters has the author try to distinguish humans from other animals in that humans and humans only has the capacity for problem solving, delaying gratification and other "intelligent" tasks.

I can't buy this idea that humans are the apex of intelligent lifeforms on earth, let alone the universe. There's so much more that we don't know that we don't know, and I'm not arrogant enough to think that we alone can solve problems.

Granted that book was written back in 80s, science has told us a lot more about animals since then.
