"The data on KyoAni's server inside Studio 1 was able to be recovered without any loss."

Really happy that something came of this. I've been advocating that KyoAni try for data recovery from the very first megathread. I took action to reach out to the legal representative and tried to provide aide/advice. I took initiative to contact data recovery services that might provide help in Japan and I tried my very best to inform and connect the necessary talent, to the right people.

No idea if what I did, helped at all. Hoping it did, but that is not important.

There is only so much we can do for those lost in the fire or who are still recovering.

If anything, those that have passed away WOULD have wanted their work to continue and would have wanted their legacy to continue to be shared with the world and future generations. To not try our very best to salvage data (their work) is not respecting the reason why they even got into this industry and why they were even in the building at that time.

I understand people want to mourn and are still passing through the 5 different stages of grief, but I think honoring those talented individuals by retaining the culture and legacy they've left behind is one of the best things we can do in their name.

Funnily enough I was met with some extreme opposition here, skepticism and outright criticism. The naysayers turned out so wrong. I hope you guys take a more hopeful approach in life, learn more about fire safety and IT in general.
