Did you take your spouse's last name? Why or why not?

Thats why I also cant stand that vile 'tradition' of fathers walking daughters down the aisle and "giving her away"

Totally agreed. I also wasn't happy with any of the walking down the aisle alternatives because I don't just not like the gender aspect of it, but I also don't like the "I will be hidden from sight while you all gather until I'm revealed 'in all my beauty' for you to stare at while I parade in front of you" part. So I explained this to my husband and he understood, so we decided to just arrive with everyone else and stand around with everyone else until everyone arrives and then start the ceremony - no hiding until the final moment and no aisle to walk down. Well we ended up being late, so we were the last to arrive, and so while we walked from our car to the ceremony site, the entire group of attendees stared at us for the entire walk. I went from having to aisle to having the longest aisle ever!! LOL! At least I was with my husband for it. We were cracking up at the irony as we walked up to the group.
