Farmers keep burning Amazon rainforest, and Bolsonaro can't stop them

That is skating by (78,000 votes across 3 states) on a technicality.

The Electoral College has been the core of determining who wins presidential elections for over two centuries. There's nothing in the Constitution about "mandate to rule". A majority of the American people don't get to decide who becomes president. It's nice if the winner also wins the popular vote but it's never been a requirement.

Now if only a majority of American people would take an active interest in how the government works perhaps there would be sufficient outrage to change things. Until then enjoy waiting to see if the next candidate to win the presidency has the largest collection of hats because that matters just as much as which candidate wins the most popular votes.
