On one hand, putting it bluntly, the average black South African is very stupid to support a political party that is allowing millions of largely unskilled foreigners to flood into the country, undermining their bargaining power on the labour market and competing with them for limited public funds and services.

On the other, white South Africans are just as stupid to ignore their dissatisfaction. While it is of course black South Africans who insist on continuing to support the ANC despite their unwillingness to take real action to stop the flood, don't imagine that no blacks are reading the comments left here on Reddit and News24 and elsewhere about the riots, which generally run along the lines of

That's what you get for voting ANC, you idiots Mozambicans/Zimbabweans/Somalians/[insert African nationality here] actually work unlike you jealous, lazy assholes I always prefer to hire foreigners rather than locals to do my work, they're cheaper and more educated/more honest

Given that even now, the bulk of South African companies are owned by whites, being very frank and open about one's distaste at the thought of employing "shitty" South African workers sounds like politically a very bad move.

Think about it, every time a white South African expresses support and sympathy for illegal immigration, and complete apathy towards the plight of South Africa's poorest (fucking lazy useless munts with an entitlement mentality amirite), a current ANC voter thinks "Shoot the Boer." Or at least, "vote EFF so we can take his shit."

Now, of course some of them are already thinking that, but still.

Not to mention the fact that foreign Africans are swelling the ranks of South Africa's poor black population in the long run. Is that really in the interests of the white minority?

Consider the DA's current control over the Western Cape, for example. Does South Africa being flooded by millions and millions of generally poor Africans from across the rest of the continent help or hinder the DA's maintaining its control over that province?

tl;dr of course these killings are horrible. But remember that as foreign illegal immigrants in South Africa displace local blacks, who do you think the angry and dispossessed will ultimately go to to be compensated, in their view?
