FIGHT SPECIESISM!!!

Holy shit, so much vegan bullshit.

I actually keep chickens and while the gal is right that they can be social and smart as dogs and cats, they aren't emotive and have a habit of shitting everywhere they please - not to mention that as prey animals they can sometimes be very panicky, and a panicking chicken indoors is a disaster. Which is why I keep them in their enclosure, where they can shit, fly, perch, scratch and dustbathe all they want. And if she sees equal amount of emotion in chickens as she sees in mammals, then more than a half of what she sees is completely fucking made up by her desire for them to be emotive. Chickens are just chickens. They have no problem hanging out with humans, but they have their needs. Keeping them indoors is doing more harm than good, unless she's giving them access to proper amenities or they're allowed 'time outside', which would in turn mess up her whole apartment anyway, since she's turned it into hen house. Just from the photos of her chickens I can tell they're far from the good shape my backyard birds are in.

Also, chickens are delicious and I have no problem with removing the ones that have health issues or wrong attitude profiles(you don't want an uber-aggressive chicken to reproduce further down the line just as much as you don't want one that's completely terrified of humans). Unless I wanted to keep the excess roosters and watch them kill eachother in the unevitable power struggles that happen everytime there's not enough hens for everyone(damn patriarchal, oppressive roosters) and they need some wing room.

As much as I see dogs and cats as companion pets, I recognize that people elswhere consider them food. It'd be stupid to try to change the whole world by screaming at it.
