Followed while walking.

Something like this happened to me earlier this year. I was walking my dog, not too far, but at night in a relatively safe neighborhood. I noticed this man, whom I had seen before, smoking outside a house. The house was "under construction" but had been with no movement for quite some time, so apart from being creepy, there was no surveillance from a home/ wasn't his home. Anyway, I walked past him, went on for two more blocks, and crossed the street to walk the same route in reverse. I notice the man from before coming up to me to talk.. He started asking where I lived, and was I here on vacation? etc. At first I figured it was a busybody nosy neighbor, but he kept walking into my comfort zone. I never stopped walking while asking him to leave me alone. I praised the heavens when I saw my boss(also my neighbor) outside her house. I immediately went up to her and her husband, but before I could speak the man introduced himself, saying he was with me!! I of course refuted this and told them this creep had been following me for 3 blocks. Thankfully we went inside immediately and they allowed me to stay there for a couple of hours. I called the cops, but they did nothing except tell me "they would be by in 30 min", sadly it never happened. However, things got scarier when the next morning my boss' daughter called frantically. She had seen the creep the previous night, and she instantly recognized him at the front door. The creep, she said, had been calling at the door posing as a salesman, and circling the house peering into the windows. This time, the police came immediately. Turns out the man was arrested for loitering, and spent the night in jail. Thanks to a friend and the good ol' internet I was able to search for the arrest record. The man was released on a $50 bail the next morning, to return to his residence.... on my street, a block over.
