From creating curves to removing body hair: Photo editor reveals just what goes on behind the scenes of a Victoria's Secret shoot

But what about the live show? No editing there. I am aware they do some seriously dangerous stuff like eating very bad diets and not drinking for two days to shrink the skin, but still...ribs and jutting bones would show.

I just find that show boring and find it sad that women of different sizes dont sell. There it is: its not men forcing that image on women: its women refusing to buy a different one, why? Circular reasoning? "Men dont like anything but that skinny look, so I will buy a mag that keeps me miserably focused on looking that way?" Yet all the men I know say "eat some chips, love!" at the sight of fashion models and express exasperation at the refusal of women to eat...British men, though. I know its different. Met a girl once in Crete with a Phd and a job at Google, funny, bright girl, top company and also ..I suppose pretty, but it was personality that you saw. And all the Brit guys were queuing up for her..and she told us back in the US, no guy would look at her because she's 32 and also so smart. We couldnt believe it. Nearly came to blows with my bloke because he was so openly desirous.

Its funny how bodies change. Watched my fave, the Stepford wives today, and was struck by how naturally thin the women looked, whereas look at Friends, or any 90s movie: the thin women look so strained. You can tell its constant work to keep their weight so low. I have to wonder if its all the hormones and crap in the food, even vegetarian food: plants still have to drink water full of run-off hormones. It wasnt like that when I was growing up. Everyone was just naturally slim, you can see by looking at any PIB from then, the kids are all thin. Of course, we didnt eat snacks and now my niece, first thing she wants after school is food, why when you'll have your tea in two or three hours?

So since food has changed and eating habits, its mad to keep insisting on a 70s body like Wonder woman or the Dallas cast or Katharine Ross (Joanna in Stepford Wives) Its interesting to see Game Of Thrones is not like this, there's a pretty wide array of bodies, from the very skinny Ygritte, to stocky Daenarys to the voluptuous Ros to the powerful Yara (love Yara). She's getting pretty matronly, Daenarys!

And you see a lot more 'normal' women around. Little things, like how to geocache, have totally ordinary women, stocky, with fat thighs, wearing shorts. Thats great! Body-positive had an effect and a pretty fast one too...actually, now I think on, I dont see those starved strained Friends-type women anymore.
