Having Multiple Mental Illnessess

I have had bad experiences with psychiatrists.

  1. One didn't even try to diagnose me and just asked what medications I wanted. I told him to hold on a second while I quickly go to medical school and I'll get back to him.

  2. Another wouldn't give me a 30 day prescription for my medication when I moved so I had to go to the ER to get the medication. Usually there is a month wait to get in to see a psychiatrist in a new town. Just seemed like a real jerk thing to do and a waste of resources.

  3. Another one refused to see me after I attempted suicide. Even though the last time he saw me I told him I was suicidal. He put me on a anti psychotic and told me I was bipolar after I told him I was having severe suicidal thoughts. He didn't even prescribe me an anti depressant. Also he was the one who said children with depression are usually bipolar and I didn't need to have had a manic episode.

  4. Another one I went to see called me a liar on the first visit and that I didn't have ADD or depression but just bipolar type 2 since I didn't have mania. I asked if he read my previous medical records. He said no. I told him I have about 20 years of psychiatric treatment and he should read that (or at least the last years worth) before trying to diagnose me. I then walked out.

  5. My mom shortly before she committed suicide went to a psychiatrist. She was experiencing severe depression and she asked the doctor to give her a toxic medication called nortryptalin (not sure on the spelling). He gave it to her. She took the whole bottle at once and killed herself.

Also most psychiatrists only make 10 minute appointments and my PCP will make 20 minute appointments so I have time to talk to him about how I am feeling.

I'll look into therapy but I'm done with psychiatrists. Most of the psychiatrists I have seen have also told me it's trial and error and they don't really know what medications will work. A PCP can make random guesses too.
