I moved from NY to North Carolina with my two kids (3 and 1 yr at the time). I was leaving their father and that abusive relationship. We kept breaking up - getting back together - breaking up - getting back together. He was awful and I kept going back, idk why. I finally said Enough and moved to a strange state far away, just cut the fucking chord. My brother lived there and we moved in with him until I got a job and saved the money to get our own place. He was a young, single guy and having his little sister and two babies move it was…a big adjustment for everyone. I found a job real quick and saved everything I could. We were moving into our own place after 7 months. I was so fucking proud of us! Omg those 7 months! I can’t tell you how much self doubt I had. Did I do the right thing? Why did I move so far away? Is this gonna work? Can I even do this? After being on my own for like a year I started dating and I met this guy online. He was from Louisiana and had just moved to North Carolina with a friend of his that was in the Marines. I knew! I just knew. The first time we talked and I heard his thick ass country accident, I was hooked. He was like no guy I’d ever been with. Super sweet and thoughtful. Very respectful, open and honest. It honestly kinda freaked me out at first. He only cared about me. I never once doubted his love for me. After 6 months, his friend is moving back and it’s short notice and he’s gotta just go back with him. No way around it. I thought for sure it was over. Maybe he’d say he wants to try long distance and I’d give it my best, but who knows. He showed up to my house the night before they moved back and proposed to me. I got a beautiful ring and the kids both got presents. I could not believe it! There I was with a guy for 4 years and had two kids with the man and he never asked me to marry him. This guy has known me 6 months and is proposing! I said yes and he moved back the next day. He got a job and an apartment for us. Moved me and the kids down to Louisiana on July 4th. We were married on our 1 year anniversary. Happily married 10 years with 4 kids ❤️
