I mean that those things make the guy hotter than he would be just standing there with the same looks but avg personality. Competence is sexy. As a female I think the way many of us subconsciously calculate attractiveness in a man is pretty complicated and isn't as centered on looks to the degree that males value in women. I've had conversations with my girlfriend's laughing about them swooning over the most random guys sometimes (for example some average looking slightly chubby 19 year-old drunk off his ass, acting like a buffoon but he was super funny/confident and was making everyone laugh, meanwhile my friend is like a 25 year old professional woman wanting his number) but sometimes there's just something captivating about someone that's funny/smart/competent and that's the reason for sexual attraction.
