Even people on the right do have a heart, their policies don't reflect it. The right's social policy is based on a strict form of Christian dogma that clashes with modern sensibilities. (And don't say that it doesn't, because it's even reflected in the way that conservative Christians speak, with rhetoric about Christian values versus the values of "the world".) And the way that many adherents will, without any hint of remorse, disown their children simply for being gay... how the fuck is that not heartless?
And fiscal policy? Fiscal conservatives are even worse! They refuse to acknowledge the reality of laissez-faire capitalism, which is that success in it is based so much on either luck or gaming the system in a way that gives you an unfair advantage over your competitors. And instead of acknowledging that, they spout bootstrappy rhetoric about how anyone who is poor deserves it for not working hard enough. Well, sorry, but that shit's not going to fly when you have a whole generation of people who supposedly did everything right by going to college and staying out of trouble, but still doing worse than their parents did at their age. And when they do make references to income inequality, they just try to use it an excuse for giving more money to the so-called "job creators", when we've already been funneling the vast majority of the profits to them since the Reagan administration. That's it. That's the only idea I've heard from the right about dealing with poverty, and it doesn't work because the "job creators" keep all that money for themselves instead of paying it to the people who do the actual work.
The only time the right wing appears to have a heart is when talking about "the troops." You literally saw that last week at the State of the Union when Paul Ryan sat stonefaced behind Obama the entire time, only applauding when Obama praised our military. The rest of the time, he just sat there, and didn't even applaud when Obama introduced the "moonshot" plan to cure cancer. HE COULDN'T EVEN FUCKING APPLAUD THE IDEA OF CURING CANCER! Who the hell wouldn't applaud the idea of attempting to cure cancer with the same amount of vigor and concerted national effort that got us on the moon before the Soviets?!
The Republicans, that's who.
Wake up! The right wing is heartless as fuck. They'll only display heart when talking about troops or talking about saving babies (from abortion). And even then, they don't give a fuck about treating the troops that come home with physical damage or mental damage. And once those babies survive to birth, they're on their fucking own. That's it. That's the right wing. That's why the right wing as it exists today is literally going to die with all those old people who can't let go of the Cold War-era propaganda of how great capitalism is and how scary socialism is, as well as those who cling to their outdated system of superstition in the face of all that contrary evidence from science.
The center-left is where the sensible people are. Come join us, and together, we'll bring about the Star Trek-like utopia while fending off the SJWs.
