J.K. Rowling Writes about Her Reasons for Speaking out on Sex and Gender Issues

There is a weird militancy around trans issues that to be honest, IMO, is blown out of proportion by the media.

I think most people in the UK feel trans people can legitimately pursue their desires, they just feel they don't need to be stampeded by such a minority issue with things like uni-sex bathrooms for instance.

Most thinking people I would assume, take a dim view of transgender men entering female sports and dominating, or being sent to female prisons and performing sexual assaults too.

Also, protecting free speech by not making it a crime to use the wrong pronoun, but simply relying on decency and common courtesy seems reasonable to most.

Finally, asking people till they are slightly older than young teens to start transitioning seems like a reasonable request.

But there is a tiny militant clique that for some reasons seems to be projected by the media as having more power for their outrage ... when honestly, I think most people across the UK are now pretty tolerant towards LGBT issues tbh.

This is another instance of a tiny group magnifying their outrage on social media so they seem like they are using a hammer to crack a nut, when in actual fact, with some normal dialogue and reason most issues are easily solvable for all.
