Kansas taxes $47M less than expected in January..."How much worse does it have to get before Gov. Brownback admits his failed economic experiment is leading to a meltdown of every public service...?

I'm not going to answer all your personal questions because you're here to argue and attack, not understand.

No, you don't want to argue with someone who knows what is going on.

So 1.5% col and got the steps back? Probably 4-5% correct? I know damn well you know what your setup is and how long it take to hit top grade. How much do you pay for health care?

Nobody - private or public sector, wants to be the office slacker or dirtbag. And I'm nowhere near a new guy - I'm senior level.

In one system though you can fire the dirt bag. In the other system you can't. The drop of rain doesn't feel like it is responsible for the flood. I don't expect you take an object look at something that you are apart of.

And I'm nowhere near a new guy - I'm senior level.

So basically unfirable and have a job for life at this point in time. Don't act like a martyr because of a death in the family. It's in your contract you could have missed the days. I find it hard to believe someone else couldn't have covered. I'm guessing you wanted the OT. Regardless it's on you as you have a contract outlining the rules.

One of our former workers now work for Intel making six figures doing the same industrial hygiene work. I don't make anything close to six figures but I'm not complaining about my pay.

New a kid on the highschool b ball team that made it to the pros. You all aren't going to make it. Not even close.

I don't make anything close to six figures but I'm not complaining about my pay.

Good.

If state service is such a gravy train, why aren't my private sector counterparts applying in droves? I can answer that - because the pay isn't there and the benefits aren't good enough to offset that fact.

No because the state gravy train won't hire them. They tend to hire their buddies.

We often have to reopen open applications due to a lack of qualified applicants.

Change you union/DAS job descriptions. I also find that hard to believe almost to the point I would call you lair.

If you think all public workers are overcompensated for their experience, education, and work history, you're willfully ignorant.

I never said that. But some very much are. See you are justifying it again. It is the same fucking song over and over again. Your lower salary is because you have ridiculous health care, pension, and a job for life.

The burnout rate for social service workers (not me, but say, child welfare) is very high and pay is crazy low for the bilingual and masters degree demands those positions often require.

Didn't say all positions. Not really sure you need an MS to do social work. But again now we are back to the system only serves to keep the system going and justify the unnecessary positions it has. The union thugs will fight any change to streamline or eliminate jobs.
