No, but it sure as shit ain't disney land out there. I live in a reasonable low crime city and I have been robbed at knife point by two men while getting a bottled water out of a drink machine. I had to weapon on me and no way to defend myself. They could have cut me to pieces; one had a knife in my stomach and the other had a knife in my back. I could have been badly hurt or killed that night. Luckily when I offer them my wallet they instead said give me just the cash and then they left. It could not have worked out any better than it did. Having a gun that night might have made the situation worse. However, had they cut me up or killed me, I would be telling a different story (assuming I am not dead) - that having a gun could have saved me from getting horribly injured.

That is not my only incident. One night I was grilling out in front of my own garage and two punks wheeled into my drive way and had the nerve to rush into my garage. That night I did have a gun in my pocket, but only because less than an hour before that some stranger came to my door claiming to be selling something for the police department. The two who came into my garage that night where claiming to sell something too, but they had no business rushing into my garage like that. They wheeled in very fast and almost into my damn garage, jumped out and literally rushed into my garage right upon me and into my personal space. Made me very nervous. I ignored everything they said and told them very plain to LEAVE. They did. I was shook up because had they had ill intentions I don't know if the gun would have saved me that night either because it happened so damn fast.

I am not some crazy dumb ass who is obsessed with guns and who has wet dreams about someone breaking into my house. I hope that never happens. But if it does I want to do all I can to ensure my safety and my families safety.
