Los Angeles: What do you want to see developed?

1... if you are NOT going to put in enough parking DON'T build it.. i lived in korea town.. the 29 story korea town trade center was being planned for the southeast corner of olympic and western.. the square footage called for 1400 parking spots.. they wanted a variance to put in only 750 parking spots .. they wanted to start construction six months before the city council would have a hearing to allow them to build over 6 floors on that property.. it was going to be a mixed use building.. the first 5 floors a shopping mall and parking.. up to the 14th business offices.. to 28 a hotel... the 29 an a korean bar/eatery with an open air patio on the roof.. part of that block belonged to the la public library.. they were going to have the hotel entrance on olympic right where the ralphs entrance was.. for limos and tour buses. that would have them making sweeping turns in 45 MPH east bound traffic on olympic.. somebody got up and ask a bunch of questions.. they could not answer a single one.. then that guy as the best one of all... i almost fell out of my chair.. did they get FAA approval to put a 29 story building in the middle of the santa monica airport glide path.. their eyes rolled back in their heads and they fell into their chairs. i was sitting about half way back and was trying not to laugh..

i personally would really like the city to STOP putting in traffic islands like they did along wilshire blvd near western.. those slow down fire and rescue response.. they put them on highland also.. north of the residential district below melrose.. my friend actually backed up almost 40 yards to clear the way for northbound fire trucks on south bound highland a few weeks ago.. they could not get thru because of traffic gridlocked and frozen in place on the northbound side.

its amazing that the cities smart traffic signals cannot turn one side green in one direction only to allow fire trucks to get thru.

since you are in the building business.. what are you going to do about the GREENMAIL the local groups and a few lawyers are doing ... its a shame the target store in hollywood may never get finished.. the homeless are all talking about it.. seems it will be a great place for them to shoplift..

when i drive past the buildings underconstruction in hollywood.. i see multiple wood floors.. without any visible earthquake panels installed .. nothing but wooden studs holding up floor after floor.. whats going to happen when the big one happens and the projected 10 foot side to side motion happens as los angeles slips about 30 feet northwest.. building on the hollywood fault escarpment seems kinda nutty to me.. for those who don't know.. the hill going up vine street from yucca to franklin is an escarpment. its visible on cherokee also at franklin.. the sylmar quake in 71 left a 4 foot high escarpment across the front of the olive view hospital driveway... the hollywood fault escarpment is at least 70 feet. want to see how much the san andreas will move.. look at the satellite images of vasquez rocks.. and the north west side there a parking lot visible in the image.. you can see the ripples coming south where the area next to the grey parking lot were formed.. and the ripples that cause the tilting of the ground at vasquez rocks.. the shock waves amplified so much that it tossed the ground into the air so hard that it stayed up as the shock wave went thru.. this is why vasquez rocks is tilted slabs.. look carefully at the area north of the grey parking lot.. you will notice that there is a volcanic spurt there.. must have broken deep.. oh well.. i probably said too much..
