March for Our Lives: hundreds of thousands demand end to gun violence – live

I don't think anybody is arguing that there shouldn't be more support for people suffering from poor mental health. It is definitely a PART of the solution. I just don't understand why another part of that solution can't also include stricter laws on who is able to purchase a firearm, and what kinds of firearms are available to civilians. What good does it do for anybody if mentally unstable people continue to have easy access to automatic weapons? That's the part of this argument that is so bizarre. Republicans love to put all the blame on mental health but I don't see them willing to actually DO anything to help people access the treatment they need. If that's what pro-gun folks feel is the right solution then it needs to actually happen. Arguing on reddit and tweeting about how America needs better mental healthcare doesn't do fuck all.
