Mexican president-elect wants every kid to go to college

To me, Reddit folk aren’t far left, pretty middle of the road liberals in my mind (which is centrist in the grand scheme of things tbh). At least I always associated the idea of utopia with a violent upheaval and revolution which gets you to that utopic state, while liberals just want to vote and reform their way out of things.

Throughout the history of revolutions the idea of utopia has served as a political tool as a means of mobilizing masses for social change. It doesn’t mean the utopia will necessarily be achieved in its originally envisioned form, but it’s a battle plan. I guess I’m saying it serves a socially necessary function, and that while you still need a course of action, that honestly people aren’t utopic enough. Shoot for the moon and you’ll land among the stars or whatever cliché shit
