Do most trucking companies works their drivers like 70-80 hours a week?

I worked for Melton and that trainer is wrong. You do have to be able to manage your time well while OTR, but I rarely woke up before 4am or 5am working for them. Some of the time windows were impossible and all I would do is let the dispatcher know immediately that I could not make that delivery in time and I never had any problems. OTR I was always trying to max out my drive time to make more money, but now I’m local on salary, and I try to complete my route as fast as possible. Don’t give up, the first year of driving was hard on me and my family. I kept thinking “shit, is this even worth it?”. It gets a lot better, but experience is key and endorsements help a lot.
