He would cheat on you again. He may not cheat on his next girlfriend but he would cheat on you. I'm saying this from the perspective of him. 35 years ago , give or take, I dated many women. I didn't usually commit to them and sometimes cheated. It wasn't until I did alot of self reflection and worked on myself and my self esteem. Once I did this I was able to be a good boyfriend. I met my wife some time after this and we have been together for almost 30 years. I've never once cheated not even close. I'm not proud of how i acted I'm actually still ashamed to this day.

The things your ex boyfriend is saying is controlling and manipulative. Be thankful you found out when you did and move on.
