my progress on doxycycline (oct ‘21 to feb ‘22)

hello!! first post here i hope you are all well :-) i’m 20F in uni and from new england. avid skin picker btw

just wanted to share my routine and maybe give hope to everyone else who feels a bit frustrated! so i went to the derm for the first time ever in late october last year (2021) bc i was going through an insane breakout like you can see — and i was prescribed 100mg doxycycline twice a day for a course of 90 days. i stopped taking them in january this year and basically weaned myself off by taking only one a day before stopping (i have no idea if this has any effect by the way, probably not a good idea tbh). recently i’ve been feeling annoyed with my skin again (closed comedones and blackheads boo boo tomato tomato) but looking back i feel like i’ve come a long way and should be gentler :-)

here’s my routine although i’d like to emphasize that it was to mainly ameliorate PIH and PIE, not curb the acne bc the doxycycline did that —

morning no cleanser just wash w water, Benton Snail Bee essence (contains snail mucin), Holy Snails Baby Shark Sauce serum (does NOT contain shark), Whal Myung Hydrating cream, Missha All-Around Safe Block SPF45 sunscreen

night Whal Myung Meltaway cleansing balm, Panoxyl Benzoyl Peroxide 4% wash, Benton Snail Bee essence, Holy Snails Baby Shark Sauce serum, Whal Myung Hydrating cream, Lion Pair acne cream (spot treatment) OR Klairs Midnight Blue Calming cream + hella hydrocolloid bandages/pimple patches if needed

so yep that’s that. for now, i’ll just keep chugging along with this routine unless smth changes lol ask me anything about the products or doxy but disclaimer i’m learning as well :-))

tldr do ur research but also see a professional if you can!
