My son Tyler, who is 11 and has autism. He has wanted to wear this costume since he saw The Doctor is the fez.

I'm sorry so many people feel this was a karma grab. I wanted to do something for Tyler because none of the other kids at school like Dr. Who and he got laughed at/picked on for his "weird" costume that didn't come out of a package at Target. He has wanted to dress up like this since the first time he saw Dr. Who. There is a Prisoner Zero figure in one of the coat pockets and a TARDIS cutout in his room.

I simply mentioned his autism as shorthand for his flat affect (look on his face) and thinking that people would understand that it's his "thing" and perhaps have some nice things to say to counter the other kids mocking him at school yesterday. He was so excited to see what other Whovians would say about his costume.

You all are no better than a bunch of 11 year olds and you should be ashamed of yourselves. And as for your karma, take it, leave it, keep it. I'm not even sure what you do with it and I couldn't care less.

For everyone who had nice things to say, thank you. It is greatly appreciated and means a lot to us. I'm going to figure out how to show Tyler your messages without the unkind words showing.

I'm really disappointed in this community that a picture of my son's Halloween costume actually drew comments that had to be removed.
