Also how do you know that people at school will act negatively? How much would it affect you if you did get negative reactions?

I guess your choice depends on what would bother you more, hiding who you are or being the target of prejudice. I'm so sorry you're in a position where you have to choose between those situations.

The friends thing is tricky. If it's just a matter of not using name/pronouns, you might need to have another talk explaining why they're important, and consistently correct slip-ups.
