I need help. Scared if Seizures and DT

...Dude. Yes, your insurance will cover a prescription medication. A bottle of 10 lorazepam or whatever will run you like 5-10 dollars on insurance. Maybe 20 or 30 without insurance.

Yes, they will mess you up. No, you cannot drive. You also cannot drive while drinking. You will spend far more days not driving drunk than you will taking benzos for a week while you detox.

Oh, that and it will probably save your life in the long term, if not the short term.

Don't try to do this shit yourself. How do you think you'll commit to a lifetime of not drinking if you can't put aside $10 and a week to sober up safely? This is your LIFE, homie. Don't fuck around - do this shit correctly. Read this post that another dude posted today and then decide if you seriously want to fuck around with alcohol withdrawal symptoms without medical help.

If you're getting the shakes then you aren't "at risk" for detoxing. You are detoxing and experiencing withdrawal. And when you are experiencing alcohol withdrawal, it is entirely possible that you could experience a seizure.

I'm sorry to sound harsh, but it sounds to me like you're trying to justify not sobering up to yourself because it is inconvenient. If you had a knife stuck in your eye, would you refuse to go to the hospital because it would interfere with your TV watching schedule? It took some harsh shit from someone else for me to take the final step and decide to quit drinking. If you move forward with this decision, you're going to make a major life change and it is going to be inconvenient. But, in my opinion, it is totally worth it.
