If you're getting the shakes then you aren't "at risk" for detoxing. You are detoxing and experiencing withdrawal. And when you are experiencing alcohol withdrawal, it is entirely possible that you could experience a seizure.

I'm sorry to sound harsh, but it sounds to me like you're trying to justify not sobering up to yourself because it is inconvenient. If you had a knife stuck in your eye, would you refuse to go to the hospital because it would interfere with your TV watching schedule? It took some harsh shit from someone else for me to take the final step and decide to quit drinking.
