The new Brazilian president’s first pick for science minister was a creationist. He chose a soybean tycoon who has deforested large tracts of the Amazon rain forest to be his agriculture minister. And he is the first leader in decades to have no women in his Cabinet.

Show me one that's more in line with what we know to be true now? I'd like to see it, so I can address this more appropriately. It'd have to leave out basically all of genesis though, which kind of renders the point moot anyway. All the translations/interpretations of the Bible that I have read got it all wrong. It's not just my belief, I mean they got it demonstrably wrong. I am curious though if you can point me to any that did not. I would really appreciate it actually because I thoroughly enjoy learning about this.

The order is not only not correct, the methods and how things are said to have formed are entirely incorrect. They're not mixed in order, they're wrong from the concept forward. As far as individuals at the time simply not understanding what God was revealing and getting it wrong, well... That doesn't speak well to the book anyway, so I'm not really worried about addressing that. If they couldn't interpret it, there's no point in even discussing this. That would mean they got everything wrong (which they did) and there's no account that got it right (which there appears to not be so far), so there's really nowhere to go.

I do appreciate that they recognize it's incorrect and try to bend it to unrecognizable levels in their mind to try to maintain their faith as well as accepting what we know to be true... but it kind of defeats the purpose of the belief in the first place. Though you're right, the fact that they're smart enough to realize the Bible is wholly incorrect and realize the need to make up loopholes to be able to cling to the belief system does indicate that they are logical enough to not cripple a society. It demonstrates that they recognize they are wrong and try to bend everything into a jumbled mess so they can hang on to both. They don't close reality out completely, which makes that far less dangerous in my mind.

I was actually hoping you were talking about another account of creation altogether that is more in line with what science has found to have actually happened. I've been all over the Biblical account, Jewish, and Muslim, heavily debated and engaged on them and there's just nothing there that jives with reality so far. I appreciate your time though and respect your views.
