Non-Americans of this sub, what got you into football, which team are you a fan of and why?

When I was a kid back in the 80's, Detroit was nothing but blue collar, 4 night a week bowlers who's diet consisted of Miller Light and Marlboros. Magnum PI mustaches and pot bellies were the body type of champions. Journey, Bob Segar and Led Zeppelin played at all times on the stereo in my home, that is, unless the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings or Pistons were playing. When a game was on everything else stopped. It was our religion. Win or lose you stuck with them because for whatever reason our teams reflected us. When they lost, it sucked, and we self reflected on our shitty lives, but we hoped for something better. When we won, we celebrated, and felt like we'd overcome and took enormous pride in our team and our community. Weird stuff, but it brought hope and joy. That is unless the Lions were playing. With the Lions, there was no winning. No pride, no overcoming. But for one playoff game, it was all misery. It was amazing to watch people have hope every year, only to have their hearts ripped from their chest by week 6. Yet, there we were the next season ready for great things. This, by definition, is total insanity. Yet we were completely insane. The Lions have made us all insane. Stupid ass Lions. I love them, I hate them.
