"Oh how can we ever pay for things if the government doesn't give us money?"

I'm here from /r/bestof, and curious if there is a name for people who see libertarian like an agnostic see's atheists and extremists.(Not even really a good analogy for what I'm getting at)

You are speaking straight to me.

The idea that we can't support people who need it(and by extension, a few people who don't need it) in a modern society is crazy. At the same time I want to cut government spending.

I don't want to eliminate the most powerful military on earth, but I want to stop spending money putting boots on every continent. George Washington in his last letter to the gov't suggested we stay out of foreign affairs, and when we were at our best, we did.

I don't want to stop spending money on stopping people from shooting up and smoking meth, but rather than imprison them, I want to spend the money on helping them.

Privatizing roads? Come the fuck on, on your property sure, but despite our countries low standards for getting a license, having a highway system, and enforcing safety on those roads is awesome.

I guess I'm not libertarian at all, and I think I knew that.

I guess I'm a mix between realist and idealist, and frustrated people can't see that there can be common ground.

I'm not asking for communism, socialism, etc.

I'm hoping for(fruitlessly), a place to live where we take care of our own, accepting abuse, but not encouraging it.

A place to live where we protect ourselves, not our interests.

Where are free to believe what we like, but we don't apply it to others.

Where we are on the same team, arguing over how to better ourselves, not elections that are basically the world series meets americas got talent.

I can fuck right off, but this dude has the right idea, at least for someone who lives in the grey.
