When I grew up there was no internet and we had evening news just for kids, and there were no gunshots or exploding people or any scary threats in that news.

Wow. Not sure what years your day was but it sounds so idyllic. So peaceful. Was the it the 1940's? Nothing was scary then. No violenceon the streets The 1950's? That was certainly a peaceful time-nothing scary in the news then. Everyone looked out for their neighbors. The 60's maybe? Everyone wants to go back to the 60's. The peace and love. I mean- maybe you're younger? The 70's must have been great! The news must have been nothing at all like today
