but that doesn’t mean we need to fight fire with fire. we can fight fire with those trick flowers that squirt water at you, and they’ll just keep calling us fascists while getting angry that it’s not affecting us.
Your post though seems to imply that GG is way more resonable and not terrible than they are.
not at all. I’m implying that GG is ridiculous but should not be given the same weight as Elliot Rodgers or the KKK.

have they gone on a shooting spree or held a public lynching? no! and we shouldn’t pretend that they’re on that level because jesus christ is that insulting to survivors of shooting sprees to tell them that an internet war that has involved SWATing is just as bad as when they watched people be murdered in a random act of violence before their eyes!

absolutely, but there is still the fact that someone who has 40 years of experience on this earth should have learned lessons that a teenager very well may not have gotten to experience yet. I’d expect someone to be more critical of a 40 year old blowing their life savings on bitcoin than a teenager doing it because that 40 year old should have already learned the value of having a safety net while a teenager likely hasn’t had to live on their own yet and may not fully realize that you can really ruin your life with frivolous spending.

certainly, but there are plenty of adults who do so as well while there are plenty of teenagers who are completely open to reason and learning. my grandpa is 83 and refuses to listen to doctors while spending hundreds each month on supplemental vitamins and homeopathic medicines that aren’t doing anything to prevent his risk of stroke from increasing, the risk that is increasing because he refuses to take the medicines he’s been told by doctors to take. we even had an argument yesterday morning because he thinks the doctors are lying to him when they tell him that he shouldn’t place “arthritis curing” magnets over his chest because they will fuck with his pacemaker. I’ve had this argument with him at least three times, trying to point out that, yes, grandpa, I do in fact know more about electronics than you do and magnets can and will fuck up the technology in your chest that is keeping you alive right now. or his stubbornness where he continues to call my stepdad a “poor little baby” for wanting grandpa to fix the brakes on the tractor because someone will get killed. grandpa insists that he’s driven trucks and tractors for years with no brakes and nothing bad happened, but selectively ignores the time when he was just as stubborn about fixing the fuel pump in the tractor until it died on him and put him in a ditch.
whereas, my little brother of 14 only needed me to tell him once that it’s not cool to call people fags because of how much pain and hurt the word carries due to its history and intent.
Comparing GG to angry teenage boys is not “giving them an excuse," it is a deep insult.
I think it’s just completely unnecessary because, again, it’s reinforcing the belief that teenage boys are inherently stubborn assholes. that’s not healthy.
