The class of Republican law makers has been conditioned by McConnell. There's a reason politicians have avoided the all or nothing approach since forever. It backs you into a corner where even the slightest hint at compromise is viewed as betrayal. The GOP knows their rabid base won't tolerate compromise because they've filled them with lies so heinous, so detached from reality and so egregious a compromise seems unthinkable. I mean why would you compromise with the party that chose a Muslim from Kenya to be POTUS?
