On student-debt cancellation, AOC slams the 'ridiculous assertion' it would benefit the rich: 'Do we really think that a billionaire's child is taking student loans?'

So ignore the problem because it might create another

I didn't suggest ignoring the problem.

What I'd like to see, personally, is short-term UBI, from age 18 to 22, say, of something on the order of $10,000 per year. That doesn't just help the people who are fortunate enough to go to college (and who want to), it also helps people who want to start a business, or learn a trade, etc. It helps people who don't have the grades to get into college.

For people already over 22 (phased out above some age), do the same. If they have loans, they can pay off the loans. If they couldn't get into college or couldn't afford it even with loans, and have a lower-paying job as a result, it helps balance things out.

This isn't "ignoring the problem" and it doesn't create a moral hazard.
