Oregon sheriff wrote, 'Gun control is NOT the answer,' and residents agree

People need to realize that we're not like other western nations and that we are far too big of a country to enact all bans on firearms, especially that it's unfair to tens of millions of American civilians who uses firearms to protect their homes and families. Even if all firearms are banned in this country, people would resort to underground where they would create hand-made guns and plan on selling them to the black market and/or people would go down into Mexico to buy firearms from the Cartels and bring them back here to commit more carnage. In addition, this would create a lot of strain on local, state, and federal law enforcement resources and would made the prison population even worser. Those resources should and should have used after criminals such as murderers, bank robbers, kidnappers, child porn addicts, fraud users, etc. This is exactly what the War on Drugs proves. The Drug War have been going on for almost 50 years supposedly to erect drug consumption, yet "illegal" drugs are now far more available in the streets than they were in the past despite efforts by the Drug Enforcement Administration to erect them.

We have thousands and thousands of gun control laws in the books, already. Creating news ones or tweaking them to make it harder would have unintended consequences and unworkable. Our government needs to enforce the existing laws they passed and do anything in their power to prevent unauthorized people from accessing to them. Nothing is perfect, but the government needs to enforce the existing gun control laws rather than being lazy or passing news laws that duplicated the same laws passed while at the same time, considering the change in issues that went unaddressed, such as the Drug War and the questioning of the punishment in prisons.
