Out of curiosity, were you an RT fan or a casual anime fan before you got into RWBY?

Not one that springs to mind. May as well tell the not-actually-fascinating tale here.

In high school, I was the 'cool' nerd. Had nerd friends, had not-so-nerd friends. My nerd friends being who they were, they all had their weird extracurricular obsessions. Some liked anime, some like RT (because the humour was easy-to-understand), some liked both.

One of my friends from the third category and I had a brief period where we argued about things to pass the time in classes. One day, the argument turned to Red vs Blue. This friend watched it religiously, while I'd seen a handful of episodes. Twenty minutes of fruitless debate later, we made a bet. I'd been trying to get him into Archer, while he was trying to get me into anime (via any method he could). The bet? I had to demonstrate that RvB had never evolved past the 'retarded storylines' of the first few seasons.

Now, when RWBY's Red trailer came out, we were onto Season 7 of RvB (or so I recall). Two episodes into my watch, I conceded defeat. My friend, in unusual generosity, pointed me at the Red trailer. Told me that the anime I was to watch would be RWBY when it came out, because the other option was AoT and I have a sister who would be very interested in why I was watching a show that involved even hinted-at nudity. Also, my dad would have accused me of watching hentai.

I watched the first Volume of RWBY, found the errors and shoddy VA atrocious. Stuck with it for the first volume, then dropped it.

Roll on the next year. I'm well-invested in Rooster Teeth and RvB because of the bet made the previous year, and I see RWBY pop up again. I think back to watching the first Volume and decide to give it another run in the lead-up to Volume 2. I find the errors and shoddy VA to be more tolerable and then episode 1 comes out. No fucking around this volume, awesome food fight in episode 1. I'm hooked. While frantically looking for an escape from my exams, I stumble upon this place. Now, 4 months on, I'm the local Sourceror.

And that's the tale of /u/ZipRush and his time with RWBY.
