Previous nevermets: What was your SO (or you) most surprised by when visiting your (or their) city/country for the first time?

Ok so my BF and I are also USA to AUS and there's actually a lot that I noticed was different when I went to AUS and a lot of is actually made me think like 'holy crap im in a different country'

The driving on the other side of the road thing is so weird. I got sick from doing it lol and also be careful when you cross the street, you have to look right then left lol They actually drink their tap water There are lizards and spiders and cockroaches everywhere Target Australia is not the Target we know and love Kangaroos and koalas are not absolutely everywhere There are no squirrels Their coffee is 10x better Kangaroo meat is sold in stores There are so many words you never even think of that are called something else KFC is so much better there Burger King is called Hungry Jacks There are actual food/grocery stores in the malls.. like more than one too, usually Coles or Woolies Where my BF lives, everything closes at like 6, except for Thursday which is 'late night' and things are open till like 9 lol The bugs are actually disgusting huge Everything is in Celsius and grams and idek It's not football or baseball but rugby league and cricket Toilets have two flush options - full and half flush Clothes are usually hung to dry, barely anyone uses or has a dryer The birds are crazy exotic and some looks like dinosaurs ngl Starbucks is not everywhere Cigarette cartons have warnings on them and disgusting accompanying photos Everything is twice as expensive Meat pies are a very big thing The date is written day, month, year The outlets are different and can be turned on or off They don't use 1 cent coins, everything is rounded to .05 cents There are bats everywhere They abbreviate a lot of words when speaking For food, a small here is considered a large there Ta = Thank you You are not expected to tip at a restaurant The people are very relaxed and very friendly. I live in the tri-state area and people are friendly, but usually when they are too friendly you feel like they have an agenda but Australians are just that friendly all the time for no reason lol
