The Problems With the FBI’s Email Investigation Went Well Beyond Comey

I’ve been called a “Clinton loyalist” on reddit (ha) and I agree that Comey made some mistakes in the last year or so. But it really annoys me that some people seem to be trying to pin this on Comey (including Clinton herself!).

Clinton deserves at least some blame. First, she broke rules regarding the handling of classified information. She did. While I don’t believe it was a nefarious attempt at hiding her human trafficking hobby like some people do, it’s still a fact that she made a booboo. As evidenced by his view on Petraeus, this isn’t a transgression Comey takes lightly. Second, the people around her exacerbated the situation and she needs to be held responsible for who she’s chosen as her inner circle. Her husband met with Loretta Lynch on that tarmac and people rightfully raised ethics questions – even the appearance of a conflict of interest is enough to do damage.

A lot of these dominoes were set in motion by transparently partisan actions against Clinton, and this article suggests there’s a lot we don’t know, but Clinton still broke rules and people around her still fumbled. Because of that, Comey was continuously thrust into positions with no good options, and that was at least in part because of the Clinton team’s own mistakes.

Two final things: that statement from Comey (!) and his “whimsical” email address. Haha. Really a shame that this got downvoted, there’s good stuff in here!
