If I am a black person and I hold prejudiced to black people, it stays as a prejudice bc I do not hold institutional power
However if I am a white person in America in the mid-late 1800s and say black people are inferior and write laws that say there cannot be interracial marriages by law. This is institutionalizing that prejudice making it racist
If I say, women are so ”emotional” and because of that prejudice I write laws that prevent them from ever allowing them divorce, this is institutional sexism
If I am a woman and say, all men are mentally incapable, I don't have any way to enforce that view via an institution and I'm still at risk of being harmed by men bc of my lower position in society
Get the point? Me saying women deserve to be best holds more power than women calling out injustuce
If anything women calling our injustice less to violence against them.
In April 2020 a woman released a book talking about why women are victim blamed, her computer got hacked by a bunch of manosphere guys while receiving death and rape threats
